What do burnout and disconnection have in common?

While burnout often takes the spotlight, it’s equally common to lose touch with our authentic selves when feeling stressed or overwhelmed. Keeping up with expectations and demands at home and work can leave us feeling perpetually drained, prompting this feeling of separation from self.

Unfortunately, women experiencing burnout has become alarmingly common — and the consequences are significant. It can impact our mental, emotional, and physical health, as well as our relationships and overall happiness and wellbeing…and it can do so invisibly.

One reason it can go unnoticed is that it’s hard to identify it when experiencing disconnection. When grappling with overwhelm and feeling increasingly separated it can look and feel a lot like irritability, frustration, confusion, indecisiveness, or procrastination.
